| As you cross the line at this year's Sunday Mail City-Bay Fun Run, make sure to smile for the cameras. In fact, with four cameras set up along the course and streaming the video on to AdelaideNow, it would pay to plaster a grin on your face throughout the 12km journey - no matter how hard the going gets. For the second year running, Adam Internet will team up with AdelaideNow to allow participants to search online for their photo finish and also enable family and friends to jeep track of their loved one's progress in the September 16 event. After spending some time overseas, local event organiser Ally Benbow made a return to the City-Bay last year and despite her hiatus posted an impressive time of 1hr 4mins. With the technology provided by AdelaideNow and Adam Internet, she was able to search for her time and had the video footage to prove it. But Ms Benbow isn't happy to rest on her laurels and is determined to complere the City-Bay in under an hour this time around. As an incentive she's teamed up with good friend Scott Hicks - the man behind the technology and Adam Internet's managing director - in the hope a little comradely rivalry will get her over the finish line sooner. Mr Hicks is more than happy to take up the challenge, training hard in an attempt to beat self-confessed running fanatic Ms Benbow over the line. He admits he's been a little slow of the mark with training. "I've started attending the training sessions that they have at Santos Stadium every week and I'm doing boxing on Tuesdays and Thursdays - lots of aerobic activity," he said. "This will the the fourth time I do the City-Bay. "last year, I got 1hr 8mins - I'm going backwards actually - I would love to get under an hour this year." For those people wishing to kickstart or boost their training, follow Mr Hicks' lead and head to Santos Stadium each wednesday at 6pm to take part in free Mutual Community-sponsored training workshops. Anyone interested in taking part in this year's event can register online. The Advertiser article |
